Our team took part in the Cambridge Innovation Agency’s Innovation Pilot Program with the MassQueue Virtual Electronic Queue project.

As part of the program, companies developing innovative solutions receive feedback from potential customers and the opportunity to evaluate the competitiveness of the technology. Boston University became the site for pilot testing of the MassQueue Virtual Electronic Queue, with the aim of organizing the management of applicant flows as part of the 2024 admissions campaign.

The intelligent MassQueue solution was installed on a virtual server.

During the 2024 admissions campaign, university applicants and visitors (300 people) registered in an electronic queue using their own smartphones to contact university staff. To do this, they scanned QR codes located on stands and screens at the entrance to the university admissions office, noting questions that interested them during registration for subsequent referral to the appropriate operators. The MassQueue system autonomously, without operator intervention, redistributed visitors to contact available admissions officers on topics identified by scanning the QR code.

Also, during the appeal, operators who served applicants through MassQueue redirected the visitor to another operator, if necessary.

To assess the effectiveness of the MassQueue electronic queue, digital reports were used, as well as a survey of Site employees working in the admissions committee.

According to the expert assessment of the Cambridge Innovation Agency, there is an additional opportunity to obtain social and economic benefits, subject to the implementation of an innovative solution.
